Readers have fallen in love with Mimi in my romcom, The Do Over. Why? Well, who wouldn’t love a leopard print, hot-pants-wearing, says-exactly-what’s-on-her-mind grandma? (Plus she can cook, too.)
But Mimi is even more beloved for her quirky, hilarious, and surprisingly insightful sayings, what we call Mimi-isms. Some of these gems include:

“When life gives you lemons, give them back and ask for grapes. You can make wine with grapes.”
“Beauty’s only skin deep. So, make sure you pay attention to the stuff on the inside you can’t moisturize.”
“All a woman needs is a man who treats her like an angel and kisses like the Devil.”
The Do Over is on Kindle Unlimited, too.
I’m often asked if Mimi is based on my own grandmother and are surprised to discover I never knew either of mine. But I always wanted a big extended family and I guess my imagination took me places. Well, that plus watching too many reruns of The Golden Girls. (Mimi is a little Blanche and a little Sophia, for sure.)
